Sand dunes, fairy springs, and beaches of Mui Ne, Vietnam

After talking to someone in Saigon, I decided to go to Mui Ne.

This place was SWEET!!!  Lucy and I decided to go together, and Ally had a friend in Saigon, so he stayed a bit longer. We were to meet up again in Dalat (next stop after Mui Ne). As Lucy and I were waiting at the hostel for the bus, we met another girl, Megan, travelling alone from Canada who was headed to Mui Ne as well! (Remember her, she keeps popping up through my journey). We all decided to try and get a room together! When you have more people, it's much cheaper.  We ended up landing a hotel room for 3 for $5 each!  It had a fridge!  AND aircon!!  That is a gem out here in accommodations! Mui Ne seems to be a holiday destination, there are a lot of Russians here.. this has been happening a lot through particular points on this trip..Hmm.  There are many resorts along this beach, wind surfing and kite surfing camps, sand dunes, and fairy springs.

After grabbing a bite to eat, we decided to book a Jeep tour the next day, where they would take us to 2 sets of sand dunes, a fishing village, and these fairy springs we heard about. Didn't really know what we were getting into, but it was only $10.

Sunrise:
The Jeep picked us up before sunrise, then I saw the most beautiful sunrise I've ever seen in my entire life.  It was absolutely stunning over the ocean water. The sky was literally in strips of hot pink because of the reflections of the Sun on the clouds. It was stunning. Unfortunately for everyone else though, we didn't get any photos, because we were driving.. we just got the view through our own eyes, which is the best way to remember it anyway.  :)   The best stories are told when the picture that's taken is through one's eyes...

Brown Sand Dunes:
When we got the the brown sand dunes (sand was darker - tan/brown - hence the name brown sand dunes), there were people renting boards to ride down the dunes on.. if we weren't all broke, we definitely would've done it lol.  The sun was above the horizon, so it wasn't as pink anymore.  We climbed up to the top.. sand is soo annoying to walk through when you want to get somewhere!  But it was quite beautiful, there was a view of the water and coastline, we could see many boats, and then we took some silly photos, and jumping ones too.  :)

White Sand Dunes:
The whit sand dunes have whiter sand, hence the name ;)  There, you could rent an ATV, so one doesn't have to walk... Eff that!  We have 2 legs that we definitely don't use enough, so we hiked around for a while and then went you to the highest dune.. aaat which point we found ourselves having been gone for quite a long time, and then we heard an ATV coming toward us with a local on it saying, well, making an x with his arms, meaning we couldn't go any further lol.  He offered us a ride down.. for a price, so were politely declined, and took a nicer walk back down.

Fishing Village:
This place was great!  It wasn't really a village, but at the top of these steps leading to the beach, there was an incredible view of all the fishing boats.  There were also some children selling some bracelets and shells, we said no thanks, and continued down the steps. Well, they followed, they're children, and we were different from who they usually see.. they saw Lucy pick up a shell, and all 3 of them put down their trays and started to look for pretty shells, washed them off in the water, and gave them to us!  They were soo lovely, and it was soo sweet!  They had found soo many that we had no hands left!  Then they started finding bigger, prettier shells, and we went back to the top. We couldn't take them all, so were started laying them out on the ledge at the top.  It was soo cute, they helped, and played the shells they had into lines too. It was soo sweet, I can't even put it into words properly, how cute and sweet and innocent and nice the whole experience was.. next thing we knew our Jeep was right next to us and our driver was ready to take us to Fairy Springs.

Fairy Springs:
Well, this place was 100% AWESOME! Initially, we weren't sure where to go, our driver just pointed lol.  So we walked into this village in the direction he showed us, the path led through people's houses who were selling selling drinks, ice cream, and popsicles, so we knew we were headed the right way.  Then the path led to steps, and right into this small muddy river.. we looked back in wonder, and one of the locals pointed into the water, and to the right.. So we went for it.

It wasn't very deep, up to our ankles in some areas, and then maybe a bit higher in others. We got to an area where there were gray rock structures to our right, and palm trees to the left.. then we notice a local in from of us with a coconut, and heard him yell up to the top of one of the trees... There was a dude up there cutting the coconuts down!  I had seen people clump palm trees on postcards, but never actually in person until that moment. It was soo cool!  We watched him cut down some coconuts and then climb down!  I got a few photos of it.  :)

We carried on walking, we already thought we saw the beautiful rock structures, and it was really hot, plus our Jeep guy told us an hour to explore, so we were slowing down and thinking of going back when I picked up speed a bit, rounded the next corner in the river and spotted these BEAUTIFUL rock structures on the sides of the stream.. they were orange and white in color, and probably some of the prettiest rock formations I've ever seen.  But time was up.. so we went back to the Jeep, but Megan and I decided to stay and explore more, so we just dropped off Lucy, and told the guy.

After we were done.exploring for another hour or so, we had no way back, and had no idea how far we were from our hotel.. so we walked.back!  Which Megan definitely had to talk me into lol. I was Happy about it though... After we were done sweating, out of the sun, and into the aircon lol.

The next day, Megan and I went to a pool, got to stay for about an hour or so, but then were asked to leave because we weren't apart of that resort... Woops!  Lol, the water was piss warm anyway, so then we just went to the beach. Which I was happy about actually, because the wind picked up, so there were quite a few people starting to kite surf. I just sat there and watched for at least an hour or so, I could probably be a professional kite surfer now.. nah, it was really cool though.

Dinner that night was hamburgers at this place that's famous for them!  It was in lonely planet, and it was quite a small place when we arrived, but really cool. And the burgers were Amazing!! Then on the walk back, we decided to stop off at this bar along the water that looked really chill and cool. There were bean bags, cushions, bamboo mats, beds and tables facing toward the ocean, and we were the only ones there! What the heck!? It was buy one get one, so we decided to go splitsies on that deal, and just hung out, talked, and played cards. Once it started picking up, we decided to go, because we weren't trying to do a big night out or anything.

<3

We were off to Dalat in the morning!
